Why Marijuana should be legal
As you heard marijuana is illegal in all 50 states, although, some states thought of the idea and said that marijuana should be legalized for medical reasons. You probably heard but people are trying to make marijuana legal in Pennsylvania. I support that reason because marijuana is a plant that comes from the ground so there are no added chemicals in it that can kill you. While something like cocaine also comes from the ground but the people who grow them add more harmful chemicals that make it addicting so it can kill you. Why is prescription pills aloud in the U.S. because if you ever looked at their side effects you would be shocked. Although marijuana has no side effects that could harm your health. Some side affects for smoking marijuana is: blood shot eyes, increased hunger, heart beats faster than normal. As of that marijuana should be legalized in PA because there are no harmful side effects and it is a plant not man-made.
Marijuana compared to alcohol is more safe to consume according to http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2014/07/why-marijuana-should-be-legal-and-expensive/372303/ . They said that alcohol causes abuse to others for no reason while marijuana doesn't cause that. No one has ever died due to smoking marijuana according too http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/24/marijuana-legalization_n_4151423.html . More people die from consuming alcohol and alcohol is legal in the United States at the age of 21. To me that makes no sense because why is marijuana illegal in PA while no one died from it but people consume alcohol and kill innocent people from drunk driving. Also, compared to most drugs in the world, marijuana is not addicting so your body doesn't need it to survive. I have many friends that smoke marijuana and their grades never dropped, but on the other hand i had friends that did worse things than marijuana and now they are facing rehab because they did drugs that can kill you.
If Obama let marijuana be legalized in all 50 states, a lot of tax money would be collected and that would boost our economy a lot since it's not that good right now. Topic 3 is where it talks about the money about legalizing marijuana. They said that Colorado made more then 6 million dollars in tax revenue in the first 2 months it was legalized. They said they will raise at least 200 million dollars in the next 4 years from tax revenue. Now that's a economic boost the economy needs. Now imagine if marijuana was legalized in all 50 states, so much money would go through the government so that would help stop inflation. One more reason is marijuana would create a lot of jobs, and since our unemployment rate is high it would go down because many jobs would be created for legalizing it.
